rockitInteresting piece on U-MYX in the influential LA music paper - The Rockit.Their start point is that sometimes music should sound the way you want it: “Surely there has been a time or two where you heard a song and felt that there was something you would like to change. Just one small detail would make the song perfect.” As their correspondent says, because of it’s simplicity and personalization U-MYX is the route to achieving that. It’s certainly a nice word up from the West Coast for U-MYX.

imovieAre you the new Scorsese or Spike Jonze? Want to go to New York and meet Moby?

Here’s a chance to show off your visual skills by making your own Moby video for New York, New York with our Moby video competition brought to you by EMI and U-MYX, in partnership with Apple.

So, why would you want to make a video? Well… Its easier than you think - with software like Apple’s iMovie you could even cut it from your mobile phone. All submissions are welcome. Its about ideas, not the biggest camera… Oh, and the best video maker gets 2 flights to New York, where they will get the opportunity to hang out with Moby.

Of course, this isn’t just about Video. Why not get the U-MYX version of New York New York - so you can cut your video to your own version of the song. (Moby is doing an exclusive U-MYX mix as well- you could just use his!)

When you’re ready to get started, you might want to go ahead and start downloading and leaving comments for Videos created by other Moby fans.

Moby will be checking in regularly to see how you’re getting on and pick the eventual winner!

U-MYX Spreads its Wings with Apple and EMI

appleU-MYX is spreading its wings further into the world of user generated content with a new project with Apple Computers and EMI Records.Fans of Moby are being encouraged to mix a version of his current single New York New York, and then take to the streets to film an exclusive video for their mix of the track.

You can get New York, New York in U-MYX Format from the U-MYX Digital Store.

Once you’ve made a masterpiece, you can start thinking about how to visualise it. Its about ideas, rather than being Speilbergs Niece, so if you’ve only got a mobile phone camera don’t feel restricted. Finished videos should be uploaded to the Moby Video Microsite over at www.u-myx.com/moby

The best video, as judged by Moby himself, gets 2 flights to New York and a day chilling with the man himself. If you are using Mac OSX you will have iMovie at your disposal, Windows XP Users will be able to use Microsoft Movie Maker. Of course, if you want to take things really seriously you could think about one of Apple’s Final Cut Studio software packages.
